This easy-to-follow recipe ensures you can whip up these creamy, tangy treats in minutes. Perfect for cooling down on a hot day, these kefir ice pops are a healthy alternative to store-bought ice cream and a fun way to enjoy the benefits of kefir.
Serves: 6-8 ice pops, depending on the size of your moulds
Prep time: 15 minutes
Freezing Time: 6 hours
Ingredients
- 80 grams (approximately 2 cups) Kerry Kefir
- 120 grams (approximately 1/2 cup) honey or to taste (you can substitute with maple syrup or agave nectar)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 150 grams (approximately 1 cup) mixed berries (such as strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries), fresh or frozen
Notes
-
Moulds: If you don’t have ice pop moulds, you can use small cups and wooden sticks.
Method
- Blend the Ingredients: In a blender, combine the kefir, honey, and vanilla extract. Blend until the mixture is smooth. Taste and adjust the sweetness if necessary.
- Prepare the Berries: If you’re using fresh berries, wash and slice them if necessary. If using frozen berries, you can use them directly from the freezer or let them thaw for a slightly softer texture in the final product.
- Mix Berries with Kefir Add the berries to the kefir mixture and stir gently, just enough to incorporate them. You can also layer the berries and kefir mixture in the moulds for a varied texture.
- Pour into Moulds: Carefully pour the kefir and berry mixture into ice pop moulds.
- Freeze: Insert sticks and freeze the pops for at least 6 hours, or until completely frozen.
- Enjoy: To release the ice pops from the moulds, run warm water over the outside of the moulds for a few seconds, then gently pull the sticks.Â
These kefir ice pops are a fantastic treat to cool down on a warm day, offering a healthy twist with the benefits of kefir. Enjoy making them!
