< Return to Recipes
This festive Kefir Eggnog blends the classic, comforting flavours of traditional holiday eggnog with the digestive benefits of kefir, creating a lusciously smooth and gut-friendly beverage. Add a splash of Irish whiskey for added warmth.
Serves: 4-6 servings
Prep time: 10 minutes
Chilling time: 2 hours
Ingredients
- 480ml Kerry Kefir
- 4 large eggs
- 100g granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg, plus extra for garnish
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 120 ml Irish whiskey (optional)
- Ground cinnamon, for garnish
Notes
Safety Note: This recipe contains raw eggs. To reduce the risk of salmonella or other food-borne illness, you should use pasteurised eggs.
Flavour Variations: Experiment with spices like clove or allspice to add a different flavour profile to your eggnog.
Method
- Blend the Ingredients: In a blender, combine the kefir, eggs, sugar, nutmeg, and vanilla extract. Blend on high speed until smooth and frothy, about 1-2 minutes.
- Add Alcohol (Optional): If using, add the whiskey to the blender and pulse a few times just to incorporate. This step is optional, and you can skip it for a non-alcoholic version.
- Chill: Transfer the eggnog mixture to a jug or covered container. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, allowing the flavours to meld together and the eggnog to chill thoroughly.
- Serve: Once chilled, stir the eggnog well to ensure it’s evenly mixed. Pour into serving glasses and garnish each with a sprinkle of cinnamon and a light dusting of nutmeg.
